OREGON (WKOW) — A 55-year-old man died in an ATV accident on February 24 in Dane County.

According to the Dane County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded at approximately 7:06 p.m. near State Highway 138 in the Town of Rutland. The man was riding an ATV on private property when the vehicle overturned in a cornfield, ejecting him.

He sustained a severe head injury and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities noted that he was not wearing a helmet, and preliminary findings suggest alcohol may have contributed to the crash.

The incident is under investigation, and the man's identity has not yet been released.
