LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Two people were hospitalized following a head-on collision caused by a wrong-way driver at Sahara Avenue and Tenaya Way around 11:30 a.m. on [insert date here].
According to authorities, a blue 2022 Honda CR-V, driven by 58-year-old Corazon Blackwell, was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Sahara Avenue at a high rate of speed. The Honda collided with a westbound 2025 BMW iX, resulting in significant damage to both vehicles.
Emergency responders transported both drivers to UMC Trauma Center, where their injuries were assessed as critical. No other injuries were reported among nearby drivers affected by debris from the crash.
Investigators determined that the Honda veered into the BMW, causing a debris field that impacted several vehicles, including five parked cars at a nearby dealership. Two additional westbound vehicles, a 2015 Hyundai Elantra and a 2017 Mercedes-Benz GL300, were also damaged by debris but their occupants were unharmed.
Metro Police have initiated an impaired driving investigation, and Blackwell was booked in absentia at the Clark County Detention Center for reckless driving-related charges. The crash is under further investigation by the LVMPD Collision Investigation Section.
Further details regarding the cause of the crash remain unavailable at this time.
