DES MOINES, Iowa — A car crash on Sunday evening caused a power outage affecting over 1,000 residents near 27th Street and Allison Avenue.
According to authorities, a single vehicle struck a utility pole, leading to significant damage and the subsequent power outage. Witnesses reported the driver fled the scene on foot.
Des Moines Police remain on site as crews from MidAmerican Energy work to repair the damaged pole and restore electricity. No immediate estimate has been provided for when power will be fully restored.
