Hilo Woman Struck and Killed in Accident
HILO, HI — A woman was struck and killed by a vehicle while crossing Kanoelehua Avenue near East Kahaopea Street at approximately 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22.
According to Hawaiʻi Island police, the incident involved a 2023 Kia sedan. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities stated that speed and inattention do not appear to be contributing factors at this time.
Emergency response teams were on site, but further details regarding any road closures or additional injuries were not immediately available. The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
