Dewey Beach, DE — A Maryland woman was injured on August 30 after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Route 1.
The incident occurred at 7:20 p.m. when the 28-year-old woman was crossing near Dagsworthy Avenue. According to police, she was in a crosswalk with operational lights when a Cadillac Escalade, driven by a resident of Alexandria, VA, hit her while she was walking westbound in the outside lane of the northbound roadway.
Authorities reported that the woman remained conscious at the scene but was transported to Beebe Healthcare with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Escalade remained on-site and received multiple traffic summons before being released.
