COVINGTON COUNTY, Ala. (WAKA) – A two-vehicle crash on Alabama Highway 55 has resulted in one fatality and two injuries.
The incident occurred around 12:50 p.m. on October 4, approximately five miles north of Red Level. According to Alabama State Troopers, 37-year-old Yaime Zulueta, a passenger in an SUV, was struck by a pickup truck driven by 45-year-old Allen Catrett of McKenzie.
Zulueta was pronounced dead at the scene. The SUV's driver, 35-year-old Argelio Berenguer, also of Euless, Texas, sustained injuries, as did Catrett. Both were transported to Andalusia Health for medical treatment.
Authorities reported that the crash involved a tow of both vehicles, and lane closures were in effect during the investigation. Further details regarding the cause of the collision are pending.
