MEDWAY, MA – A postal worker was seriously injured when her vehicle was struck by a pickup truck on Friday at approximately 11:21 a.m.
According to Medway Police, the postal worker was ejected from her vehicle and subsequently pinned underneath it after the collision. She was airlifted to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester for treatment.
The pickup truck driver was also transported to the hospital by ambulance for evaluation, authorities reported. The extent of their injuries has not been disclosed.
Investigators believe the postal worker was on her delivery route when the crash occurred, causing her vehicle to roll over. Speed is not considered a contributing factor in the incident. Authorities have not indicated whether any charges will be filed as a result of the crash.
In a statement, the U.S. Postal Service is collaborating with state and local police in the ongoing investigation. Medway Police announced via Facebook that Main Street was temporarily closed between Oakland and Holliston streets while first responders managed the scene. The road was reopened several hours later.
