BREAUX BRIDGE, La. — Two women were killed when an SUV veered off the road and struck them near a parked car on Sunday around 5 p.m.
The incident occurred on I-10 East near LA 238. Among the victims were Cynthia Dinet, 66, of Gretna, and Elisa Lightell, 68, of Maurice. According to authorities, the SUV lost control and moved onto the shoulder, colliding with a parked SUV while the women were standing outside.
The crash is currently under investigation by Louisiana State Police. Further details, including the status of the driver of the SUV, have not been released. Emergency responders were on the scene to assist after the collision.
