PLANT CITY, Fla. — A 14-year-old boy died following a crash while riding an e-bike on May 13.
According to authorities, Khali Peñón was involved in the incident around 6:30 p.m. on Park Road near 14th Avenue.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but Peñón succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter, officials said.
The circumstances of the crash are under investigation by local law enforcement.
Witnesses reported that the boy was riding with safety gear when the accident occurred; however, further details remain unverified.
The roadway was temporarily closed to facilitate the investigation, but has since reopened.
