Two people were killed and another was seriously injured in a head-on crash in Jones County, North Carolina, on Thursday afternoon.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:48 p.m. on U.S. Highway 258, near N.C. Highway 41, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Authorities reported that a northbound vehicle crossed the center line, colliding head-on with a southbound vehicle.
The collision caused the southbound vehicle to leave the roadway and overturn.
Both the driver of the southbound vehicle and one passenger were killed, with one victim ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.
A third occupant from the southbound vehicle was airlifted to ECU Health Medical Center with serious injuries.
The driver of the northbound vehicle sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
Authorities have not yet released the names of the individuals involved in the crash.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
