PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WJAR) — Two people died following a two-car crash on Interstate 95 South Saturday afternoon.
According to Rhode Island State Police, a vehicle struck a guardrail, crossed the median, and collided with another car entering I-95 from Route 113 West. The first car went airborne, crashing down an embankment.
The second vehicle rolled over on the ramp. The man and woman in the first vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene. The female driver of the second vehicle is reported in critical condition.
Emergency responders have closed several lanes to facilitate the investigation and recovery operations. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
