Two Drivers Killed in Head-On Crash in Park Rapids, Two Children Injured

PARK RAPIDS, MN – A on Highway 71 near Albert Avenue South resulted in the deaths of both drivers and injuries to two children on Sunday night.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported the incident occurred at approximately 8:15 p.m. A northbound F-150 crossed the center line, striking a Kia Telluride head-on.

Authorities confirmed that the 39-year-old female driver of the Kia and the 45-year-old male driver of the truck, both from Park Rapids, succumbed to their injuries at the scene. A 13-year-old girl in the Kia sustained life-threatening injuries, while a 5-year-old boy in the truck was injured but is expected to survive. Both children were transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.

The State Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash, with officials indicating that alcohol may have been a factor. No further details regarding lane closures or tows were immediately available.
