Court Appearance for Defendants in Toms River Double Fatal Crash
TOMS RIVER — Three men involved in a high-speed crash that led to two fatalities appeared in court on October 29, 2025.
Carlos Martinez, Jake Beauchamp, and Ryan Rivera face multiple charges, including aggravated manslaughter, after allegedly racing through Toms River, reaching speeds of 130 mph before colliding with a Toyota Camry. The crash killed Evan Fiore, 23, and Kiley Armstrong, 21, while two others in the Camry suffered serious injuries.
According to authorities, the defendants were driving a BMW that fled from police, running red lights and reaching excessively high speeds. Prosecutors revealed plea deals that would have resulted in significant prison time for the men were rejected. Martinez's attorney confirmed they anticipate the case will go to trial, while Beauchamp's attorney is reviewing video evidence.
During the arraignment, each defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges arising from a March 7 incident. The prosecutor's office offered Martinez a plea that included a 30-year sentence and Beauchamp and Rivera a 20-year sentence, both requiring them to serve 85% before parole eligibility.
Additionally, all three defendants reportedly consumed alcohol prior to the incident. The next court hearing is scheduled for December 5, 2025.
This case is being prosecuted by the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office to avoid conflicts of interest.
