Two fatalities confirmed after vehicle plunges into Waukee pond

WAUKEE, Iowa — Two individuals died after their vehicle entered a pond on Tuesday afternoon, according to police.

The victims were identified as 43-year-old Titus Wanjala and 23-year-old River Cropper, both residents of Waukee. Emergency responders were dispatched around 4 p.m. to a submerged vehicle in a pond located near Manchester Boulevard and NW Stratford Drive.

Witnesses reported seeing the vehicle enter the pond, with no one observed exiting. Fire and police personnel conducted rescue operations, retrieving both occupants from the vehicle. They were subsequently transported to local hospitals, where they were .

“Our hearts go out to the families of Titus and River, as well as others affected by this tragedy,” Waukee Police Chief Chad McCluskey stated.

The incident is under investigation, and authorities have yet to determine the cause of the crash.
