Tragic Utah e-scooter crash claims the lives of two 13-year-old girls.

SYRACUSE, Utah (KUTV) — Two 13-year-old girls riding an electric scooter were killed in a collision with a pickup truck at the intersection of Banbury Drive and Heritage Parkway on Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after 1 p.m. but pronounced the girls dead due to their injuries. Preliminary reports indicate that the pickup truck, towing a trailer, was traveling south on Banbury Drive while the girls were heading west on Heritage Parkway when the crash occurred.

The pickup truck driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, according to Syracuse Police Department officials.

Authorities stated, “The weight of this loss is especially heavy for the families and loved ones of the victims. We extend our condolences to the families, friends, and community members affected by this tragedy.”

The identities of the girls have not yet been released as authorities are in the process of notifying their families.
