Lengthy Delays on I-495 Due to Morning Crash in Westborough
WESTBOROUGH, MA – A crash on I-495 northbound near Route 9 caused significant delays early Wednesday morning, prompting emergency response and lane closures.
The Westborough Fire Department responded to the incident shortly after 7 a.m. Authorities confirmed no injuries, but traffic is currently reduced to one lane. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation indicated that delays may affect the I-495/I-90 interchange during the morning commute.
As of 9:40 a.m., backup extended approximately 8 miles on I-90 eastbound prior to the I-495 interchange, according to fire officials.
A social media post from the Westborough Fire Department included a photo of a tractor-trailer with its front wheels over the middle barrier. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Motorists are advised to expect continued delays as responders work to clear the scene.
