Three Southeastern University Students Killed in Tangipahoa Parish Crash
TANGIPAHOA PARISH, LA – Three Southeastern University students died early Monday in a car crash involving a 2017 Honda Accord on the Interstate 55 northbound on-ramp from U.S. Highway 51.
According to Louisiana State Police, the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed before leaving the roadway and striking a concrete support column around 3:30 a.m. The victims included a 21-year-old driver from Hammond, a 20-year-old passenger from Slidell, and a 19-year-old passenger from New Orleans, all confirmed as students at Southeastern University.
The university issued a statement expressing profound sadness over the loss of its students. “Each student was a beloved and valued member of the Southeastern Family,” the statement read. The university encouraged its community to support one another during this difficult time and reminded students of available counseling resources.
Toxicology results are pending, and the crash remains under investigation, authorities said.
