TAUNTON, Mass. (WJAR) — Three individuals were injured in a shooting and vehicle crash on Adams Street Sunday night.
Authorities responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 11:06 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found a vehicle that had collided with a fire hydrant and appeared to show signs of gunfire damage.
The impact dislodged the hydrant, leading to significant flooding in the area. Three people were transported to nearby hospitals with injuries: a 16-year-old juvenile and a 19-year-old man sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, while another 16-year-old suffered injuries from the crash.
Police recovered two firearms believed to be linked to the incident. In addition, they reported that multiple homes were struck by gunfire, although no residents were harmed.
The second 16-year-old was found to have an active arrest warrant related to a previous shooting in January and was taken into custody.
The shooting and vehicle crash are currently under investigation, according to officials.
