Crash on US-24 Near Tonganoxie Claims One Life
TONGANOXIE, KS — A fatal crash occurred Tuesday afternoon on US-24 near Tonganoxie, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.
At approximately 2:41 p.m., two vehicles were involved in the collision. One individual, identified as a 39-year-old man, sustained fatal injuries. Authorities said the other driver, a 27-year-old woman, was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Emergency responders from the Tonganoxie Fire Department and Leavenworth County EMS provided medical aid at the scene. The Kansas Highway Patrol is handling the investigation.
The westbound lanes of US-24 were temporarily closed during the response and cleanup, with traffic being diverted for several hours. The roadway has since reopened.
