Fatal Crash in Greenvale Township Claims Life of 16-Year-Old Driver
GREENVALE TOWNSHIP, MN — A crash involving a semi and a passenger vehicle resulted in the death of a 16-year-old driver and serious injuries to a passenger on Tuesday afternoon.
The Dakota County Sheriff's Office reported that deputies responded to the scene at 3:23 p.m. at the intersection of 320th Street and Foliage Avenue. Upon arrival, they found the driver, Berlyn Berghuis, 16, of Northfield, deceased. The passenger, Anabelle Martinez, 16, was transported to a local hospital via helicopter with serious injuries. The semi driver did not sustain injuries.
Preliminary investigations indicate the semi was traveling westbound on 320th Street when it collided with a Lexus attempting to turn east onto 320th Street from Foliage Avenue.
Authorities confirmed the incident is currently under investigation. Further details about lane closures and tows have not been released.
