Suspected Impaired Driver Hits Ohio State Trooper on Flooded U.S. 23

An Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper was struck at 12:33 a.m. Sunday on US-23 near Blain Highway during flood traffic control.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the Chillicothe Post trooper was assisting the Ohio Department of Transportation with flooding when the crash occurred.

Investigators said a 2000 Cherokee traveling on the northbound shoulder hit the trooper with its side mirror.

Authorities identified the driver as 63-year-old Todd R. Bosstic of Waverly and arrested him for felony impaired driving.

The trooper sustained minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital, officials said.

Bosstic was taken to the Ross County Jail.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate.
