Motorcyclist Killed in Highway Crash in St. Tammany Parish Early Thursday
ST. TAMMANY PARISH, LA — A 21-year-old motorcyclist was killed early Thursday morning after crashing on U.S. Highway 11, authorities said.
Gavin B. Dietrich of Slidell was pronounced dead at the scene around 3 a.m. after losing control of his 2025 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R near North Lakeview Drive. According to Louisiana State Police Troop L, Dietrich was speeding when he failed to negotiate a curve, resulting in the motorcycle going off the left side of the roadway and into a gravel parking lot. He then went over an embankment, was ejected from the motorcycle, and struck coastal shoreline riprap.
Troopers began investigating the single-vehicle crash at approximately 11:30 a.m. Thursday. A routine toxicology test is pending, and it remains unclear if Dietrich was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
