STURGIS, S.D. — A Sioux Falls woman died following a two-vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 14A on Thursday.
The crash occurred at 1:06 p.m. on August 6, near mile marker 50, approximately 2 miles south of Sturgis. Eastbound lanes were closed for about one hour as emergency responders arrived.
Angelee Kay Glammeier, 46, was riding a 2013 Suzuki Gladius 650 eastbound when the incident occurred. Authorities reported that Darry Warnock Stuart, 77, of Wrentham, Massachusetts, was driving a 2013 Victory Jackpot westbound. Preliminary information indicates that Stuart failed to negotiate a curve, crossed into the eastbound lane, and collided with Glammeier's motorcycle.
Glammeier was wearing a helmet and sustained fatal injuries. Stuart, who was also helmeted, was transported to a Sturgis hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation. All details provided are preliminary.
