DOVER − A multi-car crash on Lap 2 marred the start of the NASCAR All-Star race at Dover Motor Speedway on Saturday.
A total of 10 vehicles were involved in the incident, including Ryan Preece's No. 60 car, which caught fire but was extinguished quickly. Preece exited the vehicle safely. Other drivers included Ryan Blaney, Kyle Larson, Christopher Bell, and Todd Gilliland.
Cole Custer's car crashed into the wall as a result of the pileup; he was also extricated without reported injuries. The crash was triggered when Preece and Gilliland made contact, resulting in a chain reaction that ensnared several notable All-Star participants.
Authorities have not confirmed if any of the damaged vehicles can return to the race.
The All-Star race is structured into three segments, with the first segment consisting of 75 laps. The event concludes with a final 200-lap segment, where 26 drivers will compete for a $1 million prize.
Repairs may determine whether the affected drivers can compete in the final segment.
