Fatal Crash on I-87 Leads to Arrest of 33-Year-Old Man
RALEIGH, N.C. (October 8, 2023) — The N.C. State Highway Patrol arrested 33-year-old Wimandre Anton Hendricks on multiple charges following a fatal crash on I-87 late Sunday night.
Authorities report that the collision occurred around 10:15 p.m. near mile marker 12, involving two vehicles. The crash resulted in one fatality and left two individuals with serious injuries. Responding emergency personnel transported the injured to a nearby hospital.
According to the Highway Patrol, Hendricks faces eight charges, including DWI and vehicular manslaughter. Investigators are still working to determine the exact circumstances leading up to the incident.
Lane closures were implemented on I-87 in both directions as crews cleared the scene, and normal traffic flow resumed around 1:30 a.m. Monday.
