TUCSON, Ariz. (TNND) — A multi-car crash on Friday at 1 p.m. left a 3-year-old girl dead and her pregnant mother seriously injured.
Authorities reported that 22-year-old Christian Isaiah Randall and a 16-year-old are facing multiple charges, including second-degree murder, in connection to the incident. Randall was allegedly speeding in a Hyundai Genesis alongside a Dodge Charger before colliding with a Toyota Camry at the intersection of Valencia Road and Country Club Road.
The impact split the Camry in half, resulting in the death of the 3-year-old passenger, identified as Anna. Witnesses stated she was properly restrained in a car seat. The child's mother is currently hospitalized.
Randall suffered minor injuries and was arrested, held on a $500,000 bond at the Pima County Adult Detention Complex. The teenager, whose identity remains protected due to his age, was located after the Charger initially fled the scene and is detained at the Pima County Juvenile Detention Center.
Detectives indicated that excessive speeds were confirmed through roadway evidence, stating both vehicles were traveling well beyond the posted limit. The investigation continues, with gratitude expressed towards the community for support.
