PORTSMOUTH, VA — Portsmouth police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that resulted in one fatality, which occurred on October 14 at 7:15 p.m. at the intersection of Greenwood Drive and Airline Boulevard.
Witnesses reported that the vehicle, traveling northbound on Airline Boulevard, lost control and struck a utility pole. The driver, identified as a 34-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency response teams, including the Portsmouth Fire Department and EMERGENCY Medical Services, arrived promptly to assist. Authorities confirmed that there were no other vehicles involved in the crash.
As a result of the incident, both lanes of Airline Boulevard were temporarily closed to facilitate the investigation and vehicle recovery. The scene was cleared by 9:30 p.m.
According to the Portsmouth Police Department, the investigation is ongoing, with no further information available at this time.
