Pickup Truck Crash in Holbrook Leaves Driver Injured, Multiple Charges Filed

HOLBROOK, MA — A pickup truck collided with two parked vehicles and caught fire on Saturday evening, leading to multiple charges against the driver. The incident occurred around 5:45 p.m. near Holbrook Square.

According to Holbrook police, the pickup truck struck an unoccupied SUV and a sedan parked on the side of the road before igniting. Officers arrived to find three severely damaged vehicles: two parked and the pickup truck ablaze, with the driver trapped inside.

A bystander attempted to extinguish the fire as police began evacuation efforts. An officer entered the vehicle, rescued the driver, and pulled him to safety just before the flames engulfed the truck. The fire took Holbrook firefighters approximately 40 minutes to control.

The driver, identified as 26-year-old Douglas Silva Soares of Abington, was taken to South Shore Hospital for evaluation of injuries sustained during the crash. Authorities said he is facing charges including negligent operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of property damage, marked lanes violations, and .

Soares, who remains , will receive a summons to appear in Quincy District Court concerning the charges.
