CAR ACCIDENT ON ROUTE 76 IN SPRINGFIELD INJURES TWO, UNDER INVESTIGATION
SPRINGFIELD, Oct. 6 — A two-vehicle collision occurred on Route 76 at approximately 2:41 p.m. Friday, resulting in injuries to two individuals.
According to police, a sedan collided with an SUV heading eastbound. The impact left both drivers with non-life-threatening injuries. One driver, a 35-year-old male, was transported to Springfield General Hospital for treatment.
Emergency responders from the Springfield Fire Department arrived on the scene to assist. Authorities were on-site to manage traffic and investigate the incident.
As a result of the crash, the eastbound lanes of Route 76 were closed for approximately one hour, causing significant delays. Vehicle debris was cleared and the vehicles were towed from the scene.
Authorities said speed and impairment are not believed to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation. Further details will be released as they become available.
