LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — One person has died following a crash along West Desert Inn Road on Monday.
Officers responded to the 4800 block of West Desert Inn Road at approximately 1:42 p.m. for reports of a collision, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD).
Investigators determined that a 2015 Nissan Versa was traveling east while a 2020 Hyundai Tucson was headed west. The Nissan attempted a left turn into a parking lot, entering the Hyundai's path, which led to a collision. The Hyundai subsequently struck a stationary 2003 Toyota Tundra waiting to exit the parking lot.
Medical personnel transported the Nissan's driver and a 71-year-old passenger to University Medical Center (UMC). The passenger later succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the Nissan suffered moderate injuries. The Hyundai's driver and a 4-year-old passenger were also taken to UMC with minor injuries. The Toyota's driver reported no injuries.
Authorities stated the incident remains under investigation. This marks the 70th traffic-related fatality in LVMPD's jurisdiction for the year.
