Several people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 70 in Columbia on Friday evening.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident occurred in the eastbound lanes at the 122.8-mile marker at 5:45 p.m.
A 27-year-old man from Columbia was driving a 2021 Ram 3500 when he struck two other vehicles: a 2017 GMC Acadia and a 2024 Volkswagen Jetta.
The Ram veered off the road, hit a rock embankment, and returned to the left lane, where it came to a stop alongside the Jetta, which was also in the left lane. The Acadia overturned off the left side of the road and came to rest in the median.
An 80-year-old woman in the Jetta was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. The Jetta's driver, a 55-year-old woman from Columbia, sustained minor injuries.
The Acadia's driver, a 38-year-old woman from Fayette, also had minor injuries, while a 15-year-old boy in the vehicle suffered serious injuries. Two teenage girls—ages 14 and 15—from Fayette and New Franklin, respectively, experienced minor injuries.
A 26-year-old passenger in the Ram truck reported serious injuries.
Authorities said one driver involved in the crash was arrested on suspicion of DWI. The investigation is ongoing.
