SUFFOLK, Va. — A three-vehicle crash on Whaleyville Boulevard early Friday morning resulted in one fatality and two injuries, according to Suffolk Police.
Authorities received reports of the accident at approximately 8 a.m. in the 3900 block of Whaleyville Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers discovered a collision involving two cars and a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV).
One occupant of the first car was pronounced dead at the scene, while another occupant from the same vehicle sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
A third individual from the second car was treated for minor injuries and also taken to the hospital. The driver of the CMV was uninjured.
The crash closed the 3900 block of Whaleyville Boulevard in both directions for nearly six hours before the roadway was reopened.
The deceased has been identified as 69-year-old Alvin Lee Ward of Suffolk. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing, police reported.
