FRANKLIN, Ohio — A five-vehicle chain-reaction crash on I-75 south near mile marker 38 early Tuesday killed one person and injured several.
According to the Lebanon Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on I-75 south just north of mile marker 38 in Franklin, Warren County.
Troopers said a GMC Yukon and a Chevrolet Trax stopped in the left-center lane, and the Trax driver exited.
A Honda Civic slowed and stopped behind them when a Ford Edge struck the Civic, causing it to veer right, authorities said.
The Civic then hit the parked Trax, struck its driver, and collided with the Yukon before rotating in the roadway and being hit by a Ford E-150. Authorities said the Civic then struck the concrete median, and the E-150 also hit the Trax and Yukon.
The Civic's driver, 59-year-old Karen White, died at the scene, authorities said.
The Trax driver, 25-year-old Kelvin Munyurangabo, sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to Atrium Medical Center, then transferred to Miami Valley Hospital.
The Yukon's driver, 52-year-old Andre Foster, and passenger Tiffany Wilson, 55, were taken to Kettering Health Middletown with serious injuries.
The Edge's driver, 40-year-old Samantha Dahl, was transported to Atrium Medical Center with serious injuries.
The E-150's driver, 34-year-old Paul Young, was not injured, authorities said.
The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
