Ohio Rep. Marcy Kaptur Hospitalized Following Hit-and-Run Accident en Route to Church, Police Report.

Rep. Marcy Kaptur was Sunday morning following a hit-skip crash while en route to church.

According to the Toledo Police Department, Kaptur, 80, was a passenger in a vehicle that was struck, injuring her driver, 26-year-old Kegan Zimmerman.

Authorities reported that Kaptur's injuries are not life-threatening, and she remains in stable condition.

Officers responded to the incident at approximately 10:48 a.m. near North Detroit and West Central avenues. Both vehicles involved were impounded as part of the investigation.

The driver of the other vehicle fled the scene. Police noted that investigators are pursuing several strong leads in identifying the responsible party.

According to witnesses, the fleeing driver was picked up by another vehicle shortly after the collision.

Kaptur expressed gratitude for the rapid response from the Toledo Police and Fire Departments, as well as the medical professionals assisting those involved in the crash.
