BROWNVILLE JUNCTION, Maine — Early Friday morning, a stationary Montreal, Maine and Atlantic Railroad Inc. locomotive was struck by a moving locomotive, leading to both locomotives derailing.
According to John Schultz, Vice President of Montreal, Maine and Atlantic Railroad, an investigation is underway regarding the incident, which occurred during yard switching operations. Schultz confirmed that both locomotives are expected to be back on the tracks later today.
The collision resulted in a minor fuel leak from one of the locomotives. Authorities reported that the leak was quickly contained and removed from the site. The Department of Environmental Protection responded to the scene to assess the situation.
