New Hampshire Driver Dies Following Truck Crash in Barnet, Vermont
BARNET, VT — A 73-year-old man from Hopkinton, New Hampshire, died Tuesday afternoon after a truck crash on US Route 5S.
According to Vermont State Police, the driver was operating a truck when it sideswiped a guardrail near Carter Road around 2:41 p.m. After exiting the vehicle, he allegedly acted erratically and subsequently jumped from a nearby cliff.
Authorities reported that the driver suffered serious injuries from the fall and later died. Investigators indicated he may have been experiencing a medical emergency at the time of the incident. His death is not considered suspicious. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause and manner of death.
No other vehicles were involved in the incident, and there were no reported injuries to other parties. Officials confirmed that the area was temporarily closed to allow for an investigation.
