Emergency crews responded to a multi-vehicle accident on Gum Branch Road near Rhodestown Road and Rock Creek at approximately 7:40 a.m. today.
According to the NORTH CAROLINA STATE HIGHWAY PATROL (NCSHP), one vehicle involved in the incident caught fire; however, there were no reported fatalities.
The collision resulted in both directions of Gum Branch Road being closed for about one hour as crews facilitated cleanup operations.
Responding agencies included NCSHP, ONSLOW COUNTY EMS, ONSLOW COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE, and ONSLOW COUNTY FIRE RESCUE.
The HALF MOON, RHODESTOWN, and RICHLANDS FIRE DEPARTMENTS also assisted at the scene. An investigation into the circumstances of the crash is ongoing.
