Motorcyclist killed in South Carolina after crashing into tree during police chase.

LORIS, S.C. — A motorcyclist died on March 26 during a police pursuit on S.C. Highway 22.

Walfre “Alex” Roblero Prince, 27, was riding a 2023 Suzuki when an officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop at 1:51 p.m., Authorities said he was driving recklessly and fled, leading to a chase.

Prince proceeded onto the eastbound exit ramp of S.C. Highway 90, where he improperly passed vehicles and crossed double yellow lines. The pursuit ended when he lost control after crossing a concrete bridge, veering off the right side of the road, striking a ditch, and colliding with a tree.

Emergency responders transported Prince to Grand Strand Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries, according to the Horry County Coroner's Office. He resided in the Loris area.

The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, with no additional details on lane closures or other vehicles involved at this time.
