Motorcyclist Dies in Possible DUI Incident in Tolono
TOLONO — A motorcyclist died Sunday morning following a single-vehicle accident that authorities believe may involve driving under the influence.
According to Tolono Police Chief Justin Levingston, officers responded at approximately 7 a.m. to the area of U.S. 45/Long Street and West Strong Street. The motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital but was later pronounced dead; the identity of the driver has not been released.
Authorities added that prior to the crash, police received a report of a potential DUI motorist operating a motorcycle southbound on U.S. 45 in Savoy.
Tolono Police are seeking information about the incident and ask anyone with details to contact them at 217-333-8911. The Champaign County Sheriff's Office is assisting with the investigation, and the Illinois State Police provided traffic control at the scene.
