NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A fatal motorcycle crash on Old Hickory Boulevard occurred Wednesday at approximately 1:30 p.m.
Authorities identified the victim as a 28-year-old man from Murfreesboro. The incident took place at the intersection of Old Hickory Boulevard and Stone Brook Drive.
According to preliminary investigations, the motorcyclist was traveling westbound on a Harley-Davidson and reportedly maneuvered around traffic on the sidewalk before crossing three lanes into oncoming traffic and attempting to return to the westbound lanes.
The motorcycle collided with the rear of a pickup truck that was stopped at a traffic light. Medical responders transported the motorcyclist to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators noted that the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. The driver of the pickup truck did not sustain any injuries and showed no signs of impairment.
Efforts are ongoing to notify the motorcyclist's next of kin. The investigation remains active, and further details will be released as they become available.
