Motorcyclist critically injured in collision near Dallas County line.

GRIMES, Iowa — A motorcyclist was critically injured in a crash involving another vehicle on Tuesday evening near the Dallas County line.

Emergency responders were dispatched at approximately 5 p.m. to the intersection of West 1st Street and Jazzwood Avenue, also known as X Avenue in Dallas County. Initial reports indicate that the was traveling eastbound on West 1st Street while the other vehicle was heading west when the collision occurred.

The male motorcyclist was to a local hospital and is currently in critical condition. Authorities confirmed that the driver of the vehicle was not injured.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office Traffic Unit is investigating the incident to determine its cause. Due to the investigation, West 1st Street (Highway 44) is closed between Southwest County Line Road and W Avenue. Officials expect the roadway to remain closed for several hours and advise motorists to avoid the area if possible.
