Motorcycle crash on I-5 kills Springfield man, injures no one.

Springfield Man Dies in Motorcycle Collision on I-5

A 42-year-old Springfield man died on the morning of Oct. 18 after being struck by another motorcycle on I-5 at milepost 234 near Know Butte Road in Linn County.

The crash occurred at 11:40 a.m., according to the Oregon State Police (OSP). Preliminary investigations revealed that David Moore, 42, was riding a northbound Harley Davidson when he lost control while slowing for traffic. Moore's motorcycle fell in the travel lane.

Jan Allen Hicks Sr., 60, of Eugene, who was also riding a northbound Harley Davidson, was unable to avoid the collision and struck Moore. Despite being transported to a local hospital, Moore was , authorities said.

Hicks Sr. did not sustain any injuries in the incident. I-5 was closed to traffic for approximately one hour during the on-scene investigation.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
