Mother of Nine and Newborn Die in Moroni Crash

MORONI, Utah — A mother of nine and her newborn baby died following a vehicle collision while the mother was walking along Dairy Lane at approximately 7:55 a.m. on Tuesday, as reported by the Utah Highway Patrol (UHP).

UHP Lt. Zach Randall confirmed that Rebecca Hafen was struck by a vehicle while walking on the shoulder of the road. She was transported to a hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries later that day.

An emergency delivery was performed after the accident, and the newborn was admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. However, an update from a GoFundMe page revealed that the baby also passed away shortly after.

The update conveyed that Tyson Hafen and the couple's children had the opportunity to spend time with the baby before his passing, expressing their sorrow at the family's losses.

UHP stated that no charges are anticipated against the driver unless speed is found to be a factor, with any potential charges to be determined by the Sanpete County Attorney's Office.

A GoFundMe has been set up to assist Tyson Hafen and their children with medical expenses and support during this difficult time.
