Authorities Seek Minnesota Man Who Skipped Sentencing for Fatal Crash
St. Paul, MN — Lorenzo Leontay Washington, 28, is wanted by authorities after failing to appear for his sentencing hearing on October 5, 2023, related to a fatal crash in 2024.
Washington was convicted of vehicular homicide after crashing into a parked car, resulting in the death of 47-year-old Day Por Tho. Authorities said Washington, who had been free on bail since March, faces up to 40 years in prison.
The incident occurred when law enforcement clocked Washington driving 86 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. Minutes later, he lost control and collided with the parked vehicle at the Gustavus Adolphus Church parking lot. The impact ejected Tho from the car, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses reported that Washington initially downplayed the incident, claiming a bump in the road caused his crash and that he did not see the vehicle he hit.
