CONCORD, MA – A vehicle and an MBTA commuter train collided on Sudbury Road near Thoreau Street on Monday afternoon, resulting in one injury, according to the Concord Fire Department.
Emergency responders confirmed the injured individual is expected to survive. The crash prompted the closure of Sudbury Road between Thoreau and Grant streets as authorities assessed the situation.
“Earlier this evening, a motor vehicle drove into a Commuter Rail train at the Sudbury Road crossing,” said Emma DeGrandi, a stakeholder engagement specialist with Keolis, which operates the MBTA Commuter Rail.
DeGrandi reported that Train 425 and Train 438 have been canceled, with passengers being accommodated on alternate trains. Travelers are advised to consider taking Train 442, departing from Wachusett at 7:30 PM.
No additional details about the cause of the collision have been released, and the investigation remains ongoing. The Concord Fire Department urged drivers to avoid the area due to ongoing emergency response efforts.
