SEARSBURG, Vt. — A head-on collision on State Route 9 resulted in the death of a Ludlow, Massachusetts man on Wednesday night.
At approximately 10:53 p.m., Alan Vautrain, 53, crossed into oncoming traffic, according to Vermont State Police. In an attempt to avoid the collision, another driver swerved, but Vautrain swerved back, leading to a crash between the two vehicles.
Vautrain, who was wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver sustained minor injuries.
Emergency responders from local agencies were on the scene. An investigation into the incident is ongoing, according to authorities.
