COLUMBUS, Ohio — A collision near North High Street and West King Avenue occurred around 2:45 p.m. Wednesday near Ohio State University's campus.

According to the Columbus Division of Police, witnesses reported a Mustang was traveling well over the speed limit on West King Avenue just before 2:45 p.m.

Investigators said the driver ran a red light at North High Street, left the roadway, struck two pedestrians, and crashed into multiple parked vehicles in a Kroger parking lot.

Authorities said medics transported both pedestrians in critical condition. Police identified one pedestrian as Sarosh Sheth, who died from injuries. The other pedestrian's condition was not immediately updated.

Firefighters extricated a motorist trapped in a parked Chevrolet Malibu; authorities did not release that person's condition.

Police said they suspect the Mustang's driver was impaired. Medics drew a blood sample from the driver; test results have not been released.

No charges have been announced. The crash remains under investigation, authorities said.
