A crash killed one person and shut Interstate 70 in both directions in downtown Columbus on June 19 after a tractor-trailer lost a tire.

The crash occurred just after 4 p.m. on eastbound I-70, west of the Miller Avenue and Kelton Avenue exits, according to a Columbus Police dispatcher.

Authorities said an eastbound lost a tire that struck another vehicle, triggering a crash involving the semi and at least seven other vehicles.

I-70 was closed in both directions following the crash. Further details on additional injuries and reopening were not immediately available, authorities said.
