Man killed in motorcycle crash on Columbus' Stelzer Road

Columbus' East Side — A motorcyclist died after a May 18 crash on Stelzer Road near East 7th Avenue, police said.

About 10:30 p.m. May 18, a man riding a 1981 Harley-Davidson was southbound on Stelzer Road just north of East 7th Avenue, according to a Columbus police news release.

At the same time, a 2015 Rio was northbound on Stelzer Road and turned into the parking lot of 755 Stelzer Road, authorities said. The motorcycle struck the Kia's side, throwing the rider onto the roadway and causing life-threatening injuries, police said.

The motorcyclist was taken to Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center East Hospital and at 11:13 p.m., police said.

Police had not identified either driver or determined fault as of the afternoon of May 19. The Columbus Police Accident Investigation Unit is investigating.
