Man Dies in SUV Crash in Brandon, Vermont
A 62-year-old man died early Tuesday morning when his SUV crashed into a utility pole at the intersection of Country Club and Forest Dale roads, according to Vermont State Police.
The incident occurred shortly before 1 a.m. Authorities believe alcohol may be a contributing factor in the crash. David Fletcher was transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
At the scene, Green Mountain Power workers performed CPR on Fletcher, who was unresponsive when first responders arrived. Investigators reported that Fletcher was driving south on Forest Dale Road when his vehicle left the roadway and struck the pole, resulting in the total loss of the SUV. Police stated that Fletcher was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
The investigation is ongoing, and no additional details regarding lane closures or tows have been released.
